North Country Impact Award

North Country Impact Award

In the spring of 2024, SUNY Plattsburgh created the North Country Impact Award. It is the highest honor awarded by the academic leadership of the School of Arts & Sciences; School of Business & Economics; and School of Education, Health & Human Services, as well as the president of SUNY Plattsburgh.

The North Country Impact Award recognizes one alumnus/a from each individual school annually. Recipients are selected based on their outstanding achievements within their professional field and/or community service activities over a significant period of time. To be eligible, individuals must demonstrate a sustained positive impact on the vitality of the North Country and its residents.

Recipients may be selected due to their impact within their own county of residence or employment, or may be selected for their impact on the North Country region, as a whole.

The achievements and success of North Country Impact Award recipients reinforces the value of the SUNY Plattsburgh educational experience, preparation and degree. Recipients are vivid, living examples of the university’s success at achieving its mission to support the social, cultural and economic health of the region.

For the purposes of this award, the North Country region is defined as the seven counties surrounding SUNY Plattsburgh including: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
