‘Ducky’ Drake Takes Flight, Retires as Voice of Cardinal Hockey

The Voice of Cardinal Hockey was nearly silenced long before his retirement this past hockey season.

Alan “Ducky” Drake, who had called home and away games since the 1973-1974 season — first on WEAV then WIRY radio — suffered a debilitating stroke. It hit him in the spring, right after the 1999-2000 season, and, at first, he doubted he’d ever be able to speak again.

Communications Grad Wins Rookie Reporter Award

Two to Receive Honors at Reunion

The SUNY Plattsburgh Alumni Association will bestow awards of merit to a retired professor of nursing and a director in the U.S. Department of Justice.

Dr. Neville Strumpf, a former professor, who was interim dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, and Douglas McManus, director of the Office of Policy and Management Operations with the U.S. Department of Justice, will both be honored during the college’s annual Reunion, July 10-13.
