Forget picking weeds. Plant them. If you do, you may just wind up just a little bit healthier, according to Dr. Michael Burgess.

“It is clear that many wild foods are much more nutritious than their equivalent domesticated peers,” says the assistant professor of biological sciences. “That’s been shown in empirical studies, and also it just feels right.” Read more.

Broadcast Students Garner National Notice

Werewolves, a gang of snowboarders, a cruise ship and SUNY Plattsburgh’s mascot Burghy. Not your average dinner party guests.

Yet these were the subjects of four SUNY Plattsburgh student video and audio segments that, after winning regional awards, were honored as finalists at the National Broadcasting Society Awards dinner in Washington, D.C. Read more.

Lean Manufacturing:
Changing the Way Business Works

Under Mary Isbister’s leadership, GenMet has quadrupled its revenues since 1999.

When asked how, the 1986 alumna and president of the metal fabrication company in Mequon, Wis., credits lean manufacturing — an effort to make business more efficient on all fronts.

Isbister returned to campus last spring as a Distinguished Visiting Alumna and spoke about her experiences, her company and the process that is changing the way businesses work. Read more.

Just five years after graduation, the Class of 2009 met our challenge. It scored the largest increase in total donors for our 2012-2013 fiscal year — doubling stats put up last year — and was named the Class Challenge victor. Read more.
