WXXA Fox23 Sets, Equipment to Enhance TV Studios

SUNY Plattburgh’s television studios will soon have a new look, thanks to WXXA Fox23 of Albany, N.Y.

WXXA producer and SUNY Plattsburgh alumnus Joe Walsh ’96 helped facilitate the gift of two news sets and equipment that will be retrofitted and installed this winter. These are the same sets that Albany-area residents viewed on the Fox affiliate’s 6 and 11 p.m. news from 2001 until recently. Read more.

SUNY Plattsburgh, Other Nonprofits Help Young Scientists Look to the Future

In an old lakeside garage at the Champlain Valley Transportation Museum, local middle school students wear NASA badges. Thirty-five of them huddle around tables in teams of four or five. They test strategies, bounce ideas, fight the clock and periodically start over.

With a limited supply of pipe cleaners, tape, pens, clothes pins and crumpled paper, they construct masterpieces — Popsicle-stick towers. Read more.

I sit on the piece of one-inch webbing, the grass cool against my bare feet, and take in the world around me. Hawkins Hall is fit for a postcard under a pristine September sky.
