Additional Ways of Giving
There are several creative ways to give to SUNY Plattsburgh, including ways that may provide a tax benefit to the donor.
Gifts of Stock
Gifts of appreciated stock or other securities benefit the college immediately and may provide donors with greater tax benefits than a cash gift. To find out if this option is right for you, contact the Office of Institutional Advancement at (800) 964-1889 or directly at (518) 564-2090. Click here for the stock transfer authorization form.
Gifts of Real Estate
You may give property to the foundation outright, make a bequest of real estate or even give the foundation title while retaining the right to live in a house during your lifetime. Each provides a distinct tax benefit. Consult your financial or tax advisor and call the Office of Institutional Advancement at (800) 964-1889 or directly at (518) 564-2090.
Gifts in Kind
Plattsburgh College Foundation accepts many gifts of personal property on a case-by-case basis. Here are some examples of unique donations from past years:
- Artwork, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints. These gifts enrich the permanent collection of the Plattsburgh State Art Museum, a large amount of which is the result of generous contributions.
- Books and other printed materials, many of which are made to Special Collections at the Feinberg Library, which focuses on regional history.
- Computers, lighting and other valuable laboratory equipment.
With the help of a participating employer, you could double or triple the impact of your gift. Find out more about matching gift programs.
