Plattsburgh College Foundation
The Plattsburgh College Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation, was
established in 1963 to receive and manage all private gifts to SUNY
Plattsburgh. Managed by a Board of Directors, the foundation partners
with SUNY Plattsburgh alumni, friends, faculty and other benefactors to
provide scholarship and academic support for current and future
students. All gifts to the Plattsburgh College Foundation support the
mission of SUNY Plattsburgh and may not be used for any other purpose.

Former SUNY Plattsburgh President Joseph Burke and his wife, Joan, a clinical social worker who maintained a practice in marriage counseling while her husband served at the college, will be honored with the 2015 Distinguished Service Award at spring commencement exercises on Saturday, May 16. Expeditionary Studies (EXP) program founder Laurence Soroka, and his wife, Cerise Oberman, provide deserving EXP students financial support by establishing the Expeditionary Studies Endowment Award. Read more.
As a final act of generosity to college-age young people in and around Plattsburgh, Grace Howard-Allen, who died in June 2014 at the age of 100, left the remaining $500,000 from an IRA to the Plattsburgh College Foundation to manage and distribute the Allen-Howard Scholarship. Read more.

of Myers Fine Arts Building for the occasion, where Brohel’s
contemporaries hailed him as a visionary and a fearless advocate for the

The Mohamed Gaber Excellence in Mentoring Endowment is named in honor
of Dr. Mohamed Gaber for his excellence in creating mentoring
opportunities for SUNY Plattsburgh students. Read more.
After 43 years of service, Vice President for Student Affairs William
D. “Bill” Laundry took one last curtain call at a farewell dinner Feb.
23, 2013, in honor of his recent retirement. Read more.
SUNY Plattsburgh has received one of the largest gifts from an alumna
in the history of the college. The donation of $470,000 comes from the
estate of former librarian Phyllis Wells. Her gift is the second largest
bequest to the college from an alumna — second only to the estate gift
of another former employee, Olive Mason Flynt, who bequeathed $1 million
to the college in 2007. Read more.
A new permanent gallery was dedicated Nov. 5, 2012, to Professor Emeritus and
College Historian Douglas Skopp and his wife, Evelyne, a former
assistant registrar at the college. Read more.
